This morning we had our last excursion to Den Haag. Dennis, Kyler, Joel, and I first went to the Peace Palace. The Peace Palace houses many international judicial intuitions including the Permanent Court of Arbitration and the International Court of Justice. It also houses the Peace Palace Library and the Hague Academy of International Law. The building was beautiful. Many countries have given gifts to the Peace Palace. Unfortunately, people are not allowed to take pictures so I do not have any.
After we toured the Peace Palace, we went to the Panorama Mesdag. In this museum there is the largest painting in the Netherlands. It is 14 meters high and 120 meters in circumference. Hendrik Willem Mesdag painted the panoramic view. People feel like they are standing on top of a dune looking at the sea, the dunes, and Scheveningen village in 1881.
After the museum, we walked around Den Haag for a while. We saw many buildings where the Dutch government is located. We then went back to Leiden. Kyler and I had about an hour before class so we decided to grab something to eat. We went to a place that had create your own wok dish. We both had really good meals.
We had our last Art and Architecture class. We got our midterm exams back and then looked at more slides. After class, I worked on my Art and Architecture paper that is due tomorrow.
