This morning we slept in. Since we had been constantly on the run, it was really nice to just relax and catch up on some sleep. Rick and I went to the train station to catch our train to Berlin. Our train left at 12:40. It took awhile to get to the station so we left earlier than needed for good measure. We grabbed some lunch before we left. Food on the trains is really expensive.
We got to see a lot of things on our ride. The train followed the Vltava River for a while. There were a lot of trees and fields in Germany. Rick and I think we saw a lot of deer stands too.
When we got to Berlin, we had about a 45 minute walk to the hostel which seemed to take forever with our heavy backpacks. We probably could have taken a taxi or figured out the subway system, but walking is cheap! Our hostel was really nice, probably the best one I stayed at. We shared a room and bathroom with two other people. They were from China and were studying in UK this semester. Our room had lockers with keycards to lock them. It was very clean and worth the money. The hostel had a bar that served some food on the roof. It provided a great view of the city.
We ordered pizza at the bar. When we checked in we were both given a coupon for a free juice, pop, or beer. So we got a free drink with dinner. The pizza wasn’t very good but it was inexpensive and filled us up. We relaxed at the hostel and used the free internet tonight.
