This morning Emily had a hard time waking up. Jet lag is hard to get over. This morning I let her sleep rather than trying to pull her out of bed. We had brunch which consisted of fruit we bought at the market yesterday, toast and jam, and eggs. We then went to my school to talk to Steef. I wanted to ask him some questions about things we wanted to see in the Netherlands while she is here.
At about 1:30, Emily and I met Steef and Kyler at the train station. We had another Art and Architecture Museum Trip. Steef was kind enough to let Emily come along with us. We went to the Gemeente Museum in The Hague. This museum had a lot of more modern works of art. I really enjoyed the museum. There was everything from fashion and glasswork to the traditional paintings. The museum had a lot of works by the artist Piet Mondriaan who is probably best known for his modern art paintings that included straight lines and the primary colors.
After the museum, Emily and I returned to Leiden. We stopped at a grocery store to get garlic powder. We then went back to my residence and made pasta and garlic toast for dinner. We talked over plans for her time here. She wanted to take some pictures of Leiden at night so we walked to the grocery store to get dinner for tomorrow and so that we could kill some time before it got dark. It doesn’t really get dark here until 9:00 right now. On our way back, she took pictures and got to see some of the streets and canals at night.
