Today was a big day. It marked the point where I have been here for three months and only have one more month left. I can’t believe how quickly these past few months have flown by.
Another big event that occurred today was that my sister came to visit. She is spending the next week with me in the Netherlands. Unfortunately, I had class this morning so I couldn’t pick her up from the airport. But, Kyler was really nice and met her at the Leiden train station. When they walked by my school, they peaked in the windows. My professor saw them and told me. He was really nice and let me leave class so I could say hi. By this time, Kyler and Emily were quite a ways down the street. I ran up behind them and scared Emily. I talked to her for a little while and then went back to class. Kyler brought Emily back to my room so that she could get settled and rest for awhile.
After class, Kyler and Emily met us at the school. We quickly stopped at the bakery to get something to eat. We then went canoeing in the canals of Leiden. We went for about an hour. It was really fun. The weather was beautiful.
I then took Emily on a relatively brief tour of Leiden. I showed her some of the main sites like one of the original gates to the city, the shopping street, the market, and the burcht. I also showed her some of my favorite canals and scenic spots.
We stopped at the grocery store and went back to make dinner. Afterwards, I told her I would do the dishes. Ten minutes later I walk into my room and she was sleeping. This was at about 6:30. Two hours later she stirred a little so I woke her up to get a blanket off my bed and made her stay up for awhile. It wasn’t working and she quickly fell back asleep. I worked on some homework and then went to bed too.
