Joel and I had Dutch 2 this morning. Neither one of us were as prepared as we should have been. However, class seemed to be easy for the both of us. The time went by really quickly. We only have to learn one lesson for next week, so hopefully I can review the lessons we prepared for class today. Kyler and I had an Art and Architecture museum trip to Haarlem this afternoon. On the way to and from the museum, Steef pointed out interesting architecture and told us a little about the history of the community. We went to the Frans Hals Museum. Frans Hals was a Dutch painter. He is known for his portraits of mainly the wealthy and militia groups. He also introduced a new style of paining into Dutch art. A special exhibit was also at the museum. The private collection of George and Illone Kremer were on exhibit. The couple likes to share their collection so that others can experience the same joy for the art. The collection has many unique pieces including works by Rembrandt and Frans Hals. One of the paintings done by Rembrandt is a bust of an old man with turban. When the couple acquired this piece it was unknown that it was done by Rembrandt. It was believed that it was done by one of his students. However, it has now been confirmed that this paining is an original Rembrandt. There were also copperplates etched by Rembrandt.

That sounds neat! I went to a Picasso exhibit here in Merida, but it was kind of a letdown. Just some of his sketches, but it was still neat to see!
