We had big plans for today. However, none of us realized how tired we were. I woke up at noon and the guys were still sleeping. I would go back to bed for a few hours and then check to see if they were awake. At about 4:15, Joel finally got up. We knocked on Kyler’s door and he was still sleeping. So Joel and I went to the market. Since it closed at 5:00 we did not see the whole thing. We did get to walk around some of the food vendors. Joel bought some oranges and I got some zucchini. I got three zucchinis for 1.25 Euros. The market was a little intimidating because everyone was speaking Dutch. Some of the vendors were yelling things which I am assuming were sales to get rid of their fresh produce. I am happy to say that I didn’t look too much like an American. I had picked up two zucchinis and when I went to pay, the man told me something in Dutch. I said I was sorry I only spoke English. He said oh and then switched to English and told me they sold in sets of three. A similar situation occurred when I was in the grocery store checkout line. I needed to get some butter to cook my zucchinis in. Joel and I stood at the butter section for awhile and tried to figure out what to get. I finally just got a really cheap package that had the word margarine written on it. I haven’t tried it yet but at least I know what it is. I also bought some orange juice, which by far has been the best tasting thing I have purchased. The only problem is it has a lot of pulp. Most of the groceries I have purchased taste just a little different. I am not sure if it is just because it is just a different brand or my cold that I am coming down with. I went to bed and woke up with a sore throat so I am assuming that that is messing up my taste buds as well. Kyler finally got up around 7:00 pm. I walked out when I heard his door open and he asked me if it was really that late. He had slept for 17 hours. His reaction was really funny to watch. Kyler and Joel left this evening to go to a free jazz concert. I decided not to go since I am not feeling 100 percent and didn’t want to get run down by going. There will be plenty of opportunities later this semester. Another deciding factor was they really didn’t know what time it started or exactly where it was located.
