Since my Dutch II final was not until 3:00 this afternoon, I spent the morning and early afternoon studying. My final went ok. There was some sort of party going on in the street near our school. There was really loud music playing which was really annoying while we were trying to take our exam. After I finished the exam, I went back to my room for a couple of hours.
This evening we had our final dinner and borrel. It felt really weird. It seems like I just got here and yet we were celebrating the end. Our professors took us to a Chinese restaurant in Leiden. We were served many dishes that we all shared. There was a lot of food and we ended up bringing leftovers back to our residence. It was fun being able to try the various dishes.
After dinner, we went back to the classroom where we had our final borrel. We sat and talked for quite awhile. When it got to be quite late, it was time to say our goodbyes. That was also very strange. I felt like I had just met these people and they were already wishing me a safe trip home and good luck in the future. Tonight was the first night that it really sunk in that my great adventure was coming to an end.
